Growing seedlings for a self-sustainable organisation and community!
In order to reduce donor dependence on donor community, the organisation initiated the seedlings project in 2017. The purpose of this initiative is to help the community in developing the culture of producing their own produce and in the process generate income for the organisation.
The Nkomazi area is rural, and unemployment rates are high. Seedlings provide the opportunity for people in the community to start growing food for themselves, making them self-sustainable. The project creates job opportunities for people in our community. Growing your own food is the key to food security and the reduction of poverty. When food as a basic need is satisfied, people get the chance to live life fully. The seedling project does not do hand-outs. We empower our community to move forwards with dignity. The project initiates a cycle of self-sufficiency that gives our community the tool they need to feed themselves.
